We had to keep calling for like 10 mins. Busy, busy
I drive 4 hours to have dinner at Jockos .. It's worth any amount of wait!
Yes they do
Try to get a reservation and go early
Yes.
Only by phone. If you make an early reservation, between 4:30 & 5pm you will not have to wait. Once all the tables are full it's a matter of waiting for the first seating to exit.
There menu never changes. If you liked it before you'll like it now.
Well if you don't want to wait, they have tables in the back where the employees take their breaks, but they are open to the customers first-come first-serve, the tables are for two only, but if you are hungry & don't want to wait too long, I've been served there fairly quickly from ordering to sitting down in like 30 or 40 mins on a packed Saturday night. Better than waiting over 2 hours!
Call them, make a reservation, but be prepared on a weekday to wait 30 to 45 minutes for your reservation and on a weekend to wait an hour or more for your reservation
Even though our neck of the woods has some great BBQ up in Coeur d’Alene, ID (including the annual ‘Up From The Ashes’ festival), Jocko’s still reigns supreme in my limited experiences. Nothing has yet dethroned Oak as my preferred wood flavoring. You don’t need sauce or excess seasoning when the local trees provide flavor this intense. Do yourself a favor and make this a special stop on your North or Southward journey off the 101.
Foods always amazing. The older I get the better that taste. A must go. Be prepared to wait, or better yet order take out first remember to asked for the bread also.
Best steak I have had in many years! Great customer service as well. A+
I've been eating here for years and loved it. The steaks were huge THICK cuts with wonderful seasoning. Tonight was quite different. The steaks are much smaller and lack that distinct seasoning. Why the change? Very disappointed. Don't get me wrong, it wasn't bad, just underwhelming.
The place offers a fantastic variety of delicious food. I liked eating here. The employees are always very friendly, prices are reasonable and the spot is always clean.
I ordered the Top Sirloin Sandwich for lunch and it had a good amount of steak. However, quite a few pieces were too grisly to eat. The bottom piece of garlic bread was already soggy when the sandwich hit the table. Salad was pre-packaged and limp. I've cooked campfire beans better than the ones they serve. They might do a better job for dinners, but I won't be back to find out.
The best beef in SLO county. Locals I know call in for the steak plate to go ... A great choice any night of the week
Amazing steak. Bathrooms need to be cleaned.
One of the cheapest steaks in all but taste. For $35 and to get a perfectly cooked 20oz steak, one of the best deals I've ever made in my life. I will definitely come back here.
Got the ribeye, medium rare, and it was oak-smoked perfection. Paired it up with a Basil Hayden's just to get a little bonus flavor pairing going. If you visit this area, and you eat meat, and you don't go to Jocko's, then you didn't visit the area. Bonus points (like they need more points) are the super friendly servers, and the oak pit viewing area. Call ahead, you will need a reservation. The earliest we could get on a Sunday night was 8:45 when we called at 2.
The best. Now in my 60's, I remember it when I was a child. Great then, great now.
Best steaks I've tasted hands down,...combo plates can serve 2 that's how big there portions are.. kudos to the grill masters... if u haven't been bucket list worthy
Amazing steak, wonderful service, definitely worth the drive and wait
Oh my gosh! The best steak, asparagus, and red spaghetti sauce I have ever had! We tried this place on the recommendation of a local, it will now be our go to spot when visiting the central coast!
NO DOUBT ABOUT IT! JOCKO'S IS THE BEST! BEEN GOING THERE FOR OVER 40YEARS. THE THE FOOD AND THE SERVICEIS ALWAYS CONSISTENT. ED THE MANAGER, MAKES IT A TRUE DINING EXPERIENCE! IF YOU ARE IN THE AREA, JOCKO'S IS A MUST. YOU WILL NOT BEDISAPPOINTED!
Always.... the... best.... not sure what else to say. Best steak you’ll every have? Yes. Down home atmosphere? Yes. Excellent baked potato, beans, rice pilaf? Yes. We drive 200 miles for dinner... just to visit here. We have Fleming’s, Ruth’s Chris, others near by and they simply don’t compare.
Steak House King in this area . Can't give 5 star because over all the years I have yet to enjoy a meal wo being party to the next table. No exaggeration, tables are chair back to chair back; servers shuffle between patrons tables like side stepping ponies and forget accepting their offer of Can i get you anything else? to accompany your meal. U may get it w your dessert. But dang the food it is delicious!
Fantastic! The steak was good to perfection, the sides were just okay, but that didn’t matter with how good the steak was cooked. Friendly servers, interior was nothing special, but that’s not what I was there for , pretty noisy inside. But, their prices are awesome for a great steakhouse. One of the, if not the only, only steakhouses I would be a repeat customer.
Came here on a whim and it's amazing! Everything from the house ranch to the steak is perfectly seasoned! Such a gem & the service was top notch! Danny was an outstanding server! This place felt welcoming, and left me with a happy belly!
The big or little Spencer (their rib eye steak), pork chops, ribs, fried chicken, oh my!!! Jocko's is a local hotspot that folks frequent whenever they visit. It's all about the food!!. And they give you A LOT of it at an amazing price!!! Atmosphere is easy going with a ranch feel, but again, it's all about the great food!! Pro tip, make your reservation at least a week in advance!!! They are always booked!!!
We had heard about how great the steaks are at Jockos and i have to say, the steak did not disappoint. Perfection. The service, however, is another story. One hour after being seated we were still waiting for our entree. Waiter was completely absent. Wine came after steak was almost gone. We were there for 3 hours. Go for the steak but keep your expectations low regarding service.
One of my favorite places! Best steak on the Planet! 5 and 9 eat on time, 6 to 8, you’re gonna wait. They do now serve dinner at the bar though! Definitely does not disappoint.
Always good, steak was a little more medium than the medium rare I ordered but still very good and for the price you can't complain. Always make reservations, it was a Wednesday and when I called at like 1130am the earliest they had was 715pm.
Order 4 staek dinners (take out) . Came home to enjoy. They forgot to include the 4 baked potatoes. Offered me to go back for potatoes. Steaks wouldn't have been the same had i gone back 25mi round trip for potatoes. Steaks were excellent. Dinner experience was not.
One of the worst meals I've ever had. The meat was greasy and had no flavor. I had to wipe off the grease on my meat before I gave it to my dogs. The waiter was to involved in complaining to actually serve us. Our food took an hour to get to the table and one of the meals was just a sandwich. The decor was outdated and very dark lighting. This restaurant needs a pick me up big time!
The best steaks on the central coast without a doubt! Aged and grilled on an oak pit. I recommend this place constantly. They are just so good and worth the wait.
Jockos never fails to provide excellent food with friendly and professional staff. Tonight when I called in with a menu item that may or may not have been on the menu...Ed took the time to listen to my description, ask appropriate questions and low and behold YES, my fave was still available!!! We are so fortunate to have a place that has stayed true to it's legacy for many, many years. It's home town feel and rich history is one of the highlights of the Central Coast. I am not only grateful I'm ecstatic, and I got the cutest hat to boot. Absolutely AWESOME SAUCE in my book. I'll be back time and time again!
Food was good. Good size portions. This was the first time having breakfast. The country potatoes were great. One of the people at our table ordered ham and eggs. The ham was huge. We will be going g back for sure
My husband has been eating at Jocko's for years when he's in the area for business, and I've wanted to experience this historic place. We were in SLO for a wedding and went with our family while in town. Wow. It was awesome. The atmosphere, the drinks and especially the food was memorable. I had wonderful lamb chops, and tasted my husband's steak. Perfection. The staff were friendly and so welcoming. I'm happy to have finally been, and will be back!
Absolute best GD MFing steak I have ever and possibly will ever have. I cannot find a comparable fillet mignon in all of San Bernardino. I live 4-5 hours away. I am seriously considering driving out there for a gd steak. It is very hard to find a restaurant that brines and cooks over a wood fire grill. It's kinda driving me crazy. I think allot of the bad reviews are from people that are extremely biast or do not know what a prime steak is.
Still the best steak period. Always cooked to perfection. Thank you for being there.
Absolutely the best place I've ever been to for steak. They love to put their meat in your mouth - Ted Bell.
The Oak Pit Barbeque made my steak to die for! The flavor was so good. It's well worth the wait if you have to. They take reservations and are very accommodating. So put on your boots and enjoy!
The steaks were delicious however, our waitress got the order wrong, the steaks had been frozen then cooked, obvious since the outside was burned and the inside was bloody, the wait time for our reserved table was an hour, then after being seated we waited another hour to get our orders in, and then another hour before being served. It was my mother in law's birthday and if she wasn't already an angry wildabeast she sure turned into the spawn of Satan after that experience. Thanks for the truly screwed up night...
Food was amazing and price was good for the amount of food too. Service was good and fast as well. Will be coming back and definitely recommend to others to come eat here.
Best meats ever! Go for breakfast, lunch or dinner and you won't be disappointed. Just try it, you will go back. And great staff!
It's the best rib eye I've ever had, The big Spencer is the only way to go. I really dig the staff too.
Rustic cowboy food done right. Best grill pit in 100 miles. No pressure setting designed to make you happy. Great service, nice no pretense people just doing their job everyday. Get your steak charcoal and red!
Steaks very well seasoned. Great service.
Great Salad (especially the pickled beets), dressing, beans and garlic bread. My husband and in-laws could not stop raving about the steaks. As I'm not a big meat eater, I'll take their word for it!
Made a pilgrimage to steak heaven! We were last here over 10 years ago, but then we ‘fled’ California when we retired. It was great to come back here and it was just as good as before. The steaks were done perfectly which is unusual for me since I like them ‘blue’! The sides were great and we love the beans. Take the time to stop by this landmark restaurant.
Went in and we were seated (7:55pm), immediately after being seated our waitress asked if we were ready to order and the waitress was rude when we asked if we could get drinks first. We waited a minute and got our drink by the busboy but it took about 20 minutes for our waitress to return (we had to ask the busboy if we could order). The table in front of us which sat about 15 minutes after us and received their food before us. We got our food at exactly 8:57. Finished at 9:23 and it took our waitress t’ll 9:46 to come back and even then we had to call for her attention. Reminder she was talking with another employee talking. She made eye contact with us several time and still continued to ignore us. We ended up leaving without our dessert which came with our meal. The food was good but the service from (judy) was horrendous. Thanks to the busboy, very helpful gentleman.
Portions are huge which working men in ranch country like. I should have ordered the steak but I wasn't that hungry. The steaks on neighboring tables looked great.
So freaking good we love eating here we always end our trip having dinner before we drive home . the Spencer steak OMG so good.
Not where you want to start with me. I was really hungry and, I still didn't finish that sandwich. Was that bar-b-que sauce? Mortadella sauce? Don't know, wasn't good.
The best filet mignon I have ever had! I think it’s even better than Mastros. Can’t wait to do that four hour drive up to Nipomo again to go to Jockos. Thank you!
Ordered medium cook. Said it looked well done. Was told "that is our medium." Interesting encounter because I felt like I was wrong for not knowing how they redefined words. Fries were super soggy and limp. Probably their crunchy.
For the area some of the best Steak I have had in the area. They let the meat speak for itself. The side was good and the bake beans had great flavor. I can see how it is world renown, however it is in one of the top places I have been too.
It’s usually pretty good as we’ve been coming here for YEARS. But lately they’re getting bigger and more popular and rightfully so. But last time we were there they overcooked almost everything including out lamb and chicken. We told the manager to be aware since a lot of others around us were getting the same. Well we came back and told us some BS about the wood is too wet today so it overcooked the meat....Ummm. Usually if it’s wet that means the temperature is lower and takes longer to cook. So they replaced it with another piece of fresh lamb, STILL overcooked again. So the manager of this place is full of it, and their is great, when it’s done correctly. But the bigger they get their quality control and consistency is going down.
